Why, especially during the holidays, should you wear a Medical ID bracelet/necklace?
It’s always important to be prepared in case of an emergency. In the holiday rush, it is easy to accidently eat a dish that you are allergic to without realizing. If that’s the case, you’ll want others around you to be prepared.
Allergies are not visible so it’s very important to have an accessible medical ID.
Others around you who are not aware of your allergy will be able to understand what is happening and how to respond during the emergency (Epipen location, In Case of Emergency Contacts, etc.).
What should you engrave on an allergy medical necklace or bracelet?
The effectiveness of a medical ID depends on the accuracy of the engraving information. It’s important to ensure all information needed in an emergency is included on the necklace or bracelet. An example template of what you could engrave for a variety of different allergy conditions:
- Name
- What Allergies you have
- Epipen info, medication, other treatment info, etc.
- Emergency contact information
What allergy conditions need to wear a medical Id?
Any life threating allergy condition should wear a Medical ID. The most common conditions are penicillin, nut, peanut, dairy, egg, latex, metal, shellfish, and wheat.
