Why each June is National Safety Month

national safety monthEach June, the National Safety Council encourages organizations to get involved and participate in National Safety Month. This awareness month is an annual observance to educate and influence behaviors around leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths.

About the National Safety Council

The mission of the National Safety Council is to help inform people about safe environments at work, home and while on the road. The council provides leadership, research, education and advocacy to achieve its goals.

In addition to highlighting safety concerns in different situations, the council also offers training such as first aid and defensive driving. It also provides companies resources like tools, guides, and posters to make their workplaces safer for employees.

National Safety Month

Successful organizations engage everyone in safety and create a culture where people feel a personal responsibility not only for their own safety, but for that of their coworkers, family, and friends. While leadership from the top is important, creating a culture where there is a sense of ownership of safety by all makes everyone in the organization a safety leader.

Medical IDs and safety

For people living with chronic conditions like diabetes and heart conditions, medical IDs act as a safety net during emergency situations. Personalized engraved IDs offer valuable information to medical professionals that can expedite accurate treatment. Medical IDs are also a key piece of a caregiver’s safety toolkit, whether the loved one has autism, Alzheimer’s disease or some other form of mental or physical impairment.
